FAQ | FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ColdDragon fire retardant coatings can be applied in several ways. First, in the factory, the coatings can be applied to boards and panels with an automated paint line. Secondly, coatings can be applied by pump and gun in a paint room or directly on site. Finally, ColdDragon materials and surfaces can be coated manually with a brush or roller. After each application, the thickness of the coating should be checked to ensure that it meets regulatory standards.
In order to meet the certification standards, the coating thickness must be 15 mils wet. At this thickness, one gallon of ColdDragon covers up to 150 square feet of surface.
Yes, ColdDragon coatings are climate resistant (or weatherproof), which means that they have been designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Exposure to rain or UV rays does not damage the coating or affect the product’s fire performance.
Yes, it is possible to paint the dry ColdDragon coatings with acrylic paint for interior or exterior use. ColdDragon coatings can also be covered with topcoats, but tests must be done beforehand to ensure adhesion and compatibility.
It is possible to color ColdDragon fireproof coatings to give them a different shade than the standard white. We recommend adding a maximum of two (2) ounces of organic dye per gallon of ColdDragon and mixing until the color is uniform.
The color of ColdDragon intumescent coating is white and opaque when dry. Obviously, the white color is for the original and heavy-duty ColdDragon formulas. The clear ColdDragon formula is completely transparent when dry, allowing it to cover the wood without losing the natural beauty of the material.
